Our Metro Region office and Day Program are located in Englewood.  This region offers Residential, Supported Living Services, Day Program and Vocational services.  Here, we operate within three Community Centered Boards (CCBs) and serve over 150 people throughout the greater Denver area.  

Unique among our Regions, Metro works in partnership with Developmental Disabilities Resource Center’s (DDRC) Self-Determination program which uses Jefferson County mill levy money to pay for services or projects that would not be covered by other funding sources.  Any client of DDRC who lives in Jefferson County, whether or not they are receiving any other services, is eligible.  Through this program, we’ve assisted folks to pay for classes and vocational training, to purchase clothes for job interviews, to pay for home modifications, to start a home-based business, to buy adaptive equipment and computers, and to pay for one-to-one on the job training.  The focus is to help the person become more independent so that on-going paid staff assistance is reduced or eliminated.

This year, the Metro Region became the leader in the use of Med Support – an on-line program that allows providers and staff to document medications as they are given.  The program sends reminders to the providers when meds are due, and also notifies our Nurse and Case Managers when a med is late or has been changed.  While still in its early stages, this program has already significantly increased our ability to monitor the health and safety of the people in our services.  All Host Home Providers are now required to have internet access so they can utilize this program.

Metro’s dedicated, caring staff have established excellent working relationships with all three CCBs in the area.  One of them, DDRC, named us their Service Provider Agency of the Year in 2006.  We’ve also had great success with our state surveys for this region, the last being in 2006, which resulted in no deficiencies.
