Bob Arnold - President and Chief Operating Officer
Bob joined Carmel in December of 2007 as President and Chief Operating Officer of our corporation.
He has worked in developmental disabilities services since 1974, both in a service provider organization and in a community-centered board. Bob started his career as a bus driver and floor supervisor in a sheltered workshop in Boulder, eventually becoming Executive Director of Boulder County Enterprises. In 1986, he was named Associate Executive Director of DDRC where he helped develop supported living services, created a self-determination model project and worked on numerous other activities to improve service delivery for people with developmental disabilities. In 2004, Bob received The Alliance’s Jane Covode Award which was presented by his peers in recognition of his efforts on behalf of those with developmental disabilities.
Bob has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology (1972) from the University of Colorado-Boulder and a Masters in Public Administration (1988) from the University of Colorado-Denver.
Today, Bob remains an avid Buff fan. He and his spouse, Karen Anderson, enjoy cooking a variety of world cuisines. During the growing season some of his free time is spent in both his perennial and vegetable gardens. An eclectic reading list also occupies a part of his spare time.
Bob and Karen have a son, Michael, who currently attends the University of Chicago.
